Highway 65 reopens as 2026 construction wraps up
Detour lifts Cambridge to north of Braham
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will reopen Highway 65 from Cambridge to south of Brunswick by noon, Friday Nov. 6, as crews wrap up construction for 2026. With this year’s work finished, the detour will lift and motorists may once again travel the corridor without restrictions.
The two‑year project began in July to improve 10 miles of Highway 65 from the end of the four‑lane in Cambridge to south of Kanabec County Road 45 north of Braham. Crews completed resurfacing, culvert replacements, guardrail updates and installed new storm sewer and sidewalks in Grandy.
MnDOT thanks the traveling public, residents and area businesses for their patience throughout the four-month detour.
Crews will return in the spring as construction resumes from Braham to south of Brunswick. Additional traffic impacts, detours and access changes will be announced ahead of next year’s work.
When complete in summer 2027, drivers in Isanti and Kanabec counties will see smoother lanes, better storm drainage, safer intersections and improved walking access in Grandy.
