Carroll County Workforce Development and Carroll County Public Schools Hold Career Exploration Event for 2000 7th Graders

Westminster, MD, Thursday, October 8, 2026 – Carroll County Workforce Development (CCWD) and Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS) are excited to promote an upcoming event, CarrollWorks 2026: Connecting Youth to Local Business, where local business leaders and professionals will participate in a two‑day career exploration event for all CCPS 7th-grade students.

CarrollWorks 2026 will introduce more than 2,000 students to the wide variety of career paths available within the community. The event is scheduled for October 21st and 22nd, beginning at 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Ag Center – Shipley Arena in Westminster.  Business professionals will share insights about their careers, highlight industry opportunities, and inspire students through real-world examples and experiences. Each student will participate in four sessions during the event. Represented industries include construction, financial services, healthcare services, and advanced manufacturing, among others.

“We are very happy to partner with CCPS on this exciting new event,” said CCWD Manager Heather Powell. “Whether a business is large or small, high‑tech or hands‑on, its involvement in this event will give students crucial, real‑world exposure to careers in Carroll County. With so many occupations hidden from everyday view, hands‑on opportunities are essential — after all, you can’t be it if you haven’t seen it.”

Superintendent Cynthina McCabe shared, “CCPS is thrilled to collaborate with CCWD on this innovative event that connects classroom learning to real-world career opportunities. By giving students direct access to local industries, professionals, and workplaces, we are helping them explore future career paths, recognize the skills employers need, and see the many opportunities available right here in Carroll County.”

Carroll County Workforce Development operations and programming are supported by federal, state, and local resources. The federal funding for Program Year 2025 is $1,554,955.21. This represents 49.25% of available funds.
