Construction will begin this week on Main Street for a new crosswalk at Generations Park. This project will install an ADA-accessible crosswalk, pedestrian-activated flashing lights and a pedestrian refuge area to make it safer to cross Main Street. (We’ve called it “LAMEZ” for its Z-shaped configuration of the refuge area.)
Please be alert and expect some traffic delays along this portion of Main Street for the next few weeks as contractors install the crosswalk.
This is the first of three crosswalk projects that will install pedestrian-activated crosswalk flashing lights; the other two locations are on Mt. Crawford Avenue at Oakdale Park and Dinkel Avenue adjacent to Blue Ridge Christian School.
For more information on this and other crosswalk projects, see the June 2026 Current and the FY 2027 Budget, both available on The Buzz.
