Good Earth Minerals®, LLC Supports Rebuild Crisis In U.S. And Caribbean

DENVER, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2017 / — The devastation of people’s lives, homes and properties in the U.S. and the Caribbean in recent weeks has caused unprecedented hardship for U.S. citizens. It is estimated that 4 million family homes were affected with some level of damage and over 350,000 homes will need to be completely rebuilt.

One of the biggest limitations with FEMA and other organizations’ ability to rebuild is the availability of high-grade gypsum (selenite or calcium sulfate) used in wallboard. The Company owns one of the largest supplies of high-grade gypsum in the world and stands ready to help this immense restoration process. Highly-pure gypsum has become increasingly scarce due to its increased use in agriculture. As important as gypsum is to Denver-based Good Earth Minerals’ agricultural market, the Company is prepared to support the rebuild process. Therefore, effective immediately, Good Earth Minerals has instructed its subsidiary, EcoGEM, to divert a substantial portion of its gypsum from its agricultural market to the wallboard suppliers.

Don Bryant, EcoGEM’s Senior Advisor, stated, “Good Earth Minerals and EcoGEM are dedicated to working collaboratively to help improve the quality of life of those affected by these storms by providing the building industry with high-quality, toxin-free gypsum for its building supplies.”

Hire the right contractor by doing research, not based on online reviews

Online reviews can be inaccurate, misleading and sometimes fake. Consumers should do research and get referrals when hiring contractors to work on their home.

CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA, September 28, 2017 / — In a digital world, one of the first things homeowners do when searching for a contractor to do work on their property is search for online reviews of the company. While online reviews can help give you an idea about the company, you should not rely on solely them when deciding on hiring a contractor.

Businesses know that consumers will look at online reviews when making a purchasing decision and see online reviews as a marketing opportunity, especially dishonest companies. Some companies will offer discounts and incentives to customers to write positive reviews and some might even hire people to post fake reviews. You can find advertisements on freelancer sites like of people offering to write online reviews. The fact is, you cannot trust that consumer reviews are truthful or that they have not been manipulated in some way.

“Online reviews can be sketchy,” said Keith Riley, founder of “It’s important that you do some digging and really research the company you’re going to hire. Check for licensing, insurance, WCB coverage and ask if you can talk to one of their previous customers or even go see the work they’ve done.”

Checking to see if a company is on is a good place to start. RenovationFind is a free online directory of pre-screened and reputable companies in the renovation industry. It is not a review site. All companies listed on RenovationFind have passed background checks, have proper licensing and insurance and are continually monitored to ensure they’re meeting standards. You can review an example of a RenovationFind contractor listing here:

“Home renovations are a great investment, but you really have to be careful about who you hire to do them for you so you don’t get ripped off,” said Riley. “Check to see if the business is on RenovationFind. Then you’ll know they’ve passed our accreditation process and have everything in order and are a good choice for your project. Thorough research, comprehensive third-party background checks and customer referrals have more standing than online reviews.” is a free online directory of trades, contractors and renovation companies that have passed a stringent screening and accreditation process. All companies listed on RenovationFind’s directory have been vetted and are continually monitored on seven important criteria including legal background checks, credit background checks, Better Business Bureau (BBB) membership, business license, business insurance and Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Coverage. Not sure who to hire? Learn the difference between contractors, sub-contractors and handyman services.

Mountz Wins Industry Innovation Award with New Torque Wrench Tester

torque wrench tester

Torque wrench tester allows technicians to quickly verify the calibration status of a torque wrench.

Mountz Inc announced that it has been honored with a Pro Tool Innovation Award for its Validator torque wrench tester.

SAN JOSE, CA, USA, September 28, 2017 / — Mountz Inc., a specialist in providing torque and fastening solutions, today announced that it has been honored with a Pro Tool Innovation Award for its Validator torque wrench tester in the Test & Measurement – Inspection category. Tool, fastener, and accessory winners were decided by innovation—including a mix of new features, power, and value. These are best-in-class products that are truly ahead of their time. Over 50 different manufacturers submitted 260 tool entries in dozens of categories for a shot to win a 2017 Pro Tool Innovation Award.

This is the third time in the past five years that Mountz has earned the innovation award. The patented MountzPro true dual click wrench won the award back in 2013 and the EPT adjustable torque wrench was selected in 2015. "This industry award reinforces the value Mountz provides to its customer base, enabling technicians and mechanics to quickly verify the calibration status of a torque wrench," said Daniel Andeel, Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

"When manufacturers built tools and accessories that break the mold, they deserve recognition. Professional consumers need to know which tools are a cut-above and breaking new ground," said Clint DeBoer, Executive Director of the Pro Tool Innovation Awards. "These are the tools that should really be in every tradesman's toolbox. They can save you time, money, and even make the job easier or more ergonomic."

A panel of judges made up of tool and media professionals from across the United States and Canada weighed in on entries from top global manufacturers, and Mountz, Inc. received an award for the Validator torque wrench tester. Here's what the judges had to say about the torque tester: "It’s the Guru on the mountain that can tell if your torque wrench is still within calibration limits. By taking care of torque wrench calibration checks in-house, you eliminate unnecessary servicing, keeping your crew more productive and the shop more profitable. Thanks to the easy Green/Red visual indicator, there’s no guesswork involved."

The Validator allows for instant verification that a wrench is still in calibration. Coupled with a torque wrench management and maintenance program the Validator can provide significant cost savings by not relying on a time-based calibration interval but by servicing a wrench only when the wrench starts displaying the incorrect torque during in-house testing.

By performing periodic validations with a torque wrench a technician can be confident that the tool is producing accurately the desired torque setting. Periodic checks can be accomplished quickly with the use of our special Pass / Fail visual feedback system. A preset a target torque and tolerance are programmed and if a torque reading falls within the tolerance a Green light is illuminated, Pass. A Red light is illuminated for any out of tolerance readings, Fail. The operator only needs to look at the lights. The robust torque tester is ideal for field service, maintenance and production applications.

Using a quality torque measurement equipment makes a safer world through accuracy and precision. Controlling torque is essential for companies to ensure their product's quality, safety and reliability isn't compromised. The failure of a three-cent fastener that isn't properly tightened can lead to catastrophic or latent failures. Fasteners that are insufficiently fastened can vibrate loose and excessive torque can strip threaded fasteners.
